Player Profile - Mathieu Garon And Adam Hauser

The Manchester Monarchs last line of defense excelled during the 2004-05 season.  Goaltenders Mathieu Garon and Adam Hauser set several franchise records along the way to the Monarchs first-ever regular season Eastern Conference championship.

A 6-foot-2, 180-pound native of Chandler, Quebec, Garon posted a 32-14-4 record, a 2.12 goals-against-average and a .927 save-percentage during the 2004-05 season.

Garon, 27, set new regular season franchise records by making 52 appearances, playing a total of 2969:10 minutes, winning 32 games and recording eight shutouts.

Garon played for the Canadian AHL All-Stars at the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic held in Manchester, New Hampshire, February 13-14, 2005.

Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second-round (44th overall) in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Garon was acquired by the Los Angeles Kings from the Canadiens for center Radek Bonk and goaltender Cristobal Huet on June 26, 2004.  He signed a contract with the Monarchs in September of 2004.

A 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, Hauser finished the 2004-05 season with a 19-11-0 record, a 1.93 goals-against-average and a .933 save-percentage.

A third-year professional, Hauser’s goals-against-average (1.93) ranked third in the American Hockey League and his save-percentage (.933) ranked fourth among League goaltenders.  Both statistics set new franchise records for the Monarchs.

Over the past two seasons in Manchester, Hauser has recorded 12 shutouts, the most by any player in a Monarchs uniform.

Hauser, 25, was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the third-round (81st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and signed a one-year contract with the Kings in July of 2004.

Along with helping the Monarchs collect a franchise best record of 51-21-4-4, Garon and Hauser assisted the team in winning 20 of their first 21 games in the 2004-05 season.  After 21 games, Garon had a record of 13-1-0 and Hauser was perfect with a 7-0-0 record.

Garon and Hauser are both looking toward the future and the upcoming NHL season.  Garon has the opportunity to earn the No. 1 spot with the Kings and Hauser is the front-runner to replace Garon as the No. 1 goaltender in Manchester.
