Loktionov Named Reebok/AHL Player Of The Week

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, and the American Hockey League announced today that center Andrei Loktionov has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 4, 2009.

In his professional debut on Oct. 3, the 19-year-old Loktionov scored three goals and picked up an assist to help Manchester to a 6-3 road victory over the Albany River Rats. He assisted on the first goal of the game before scoring his second tally later in the first period, and capped the hat trick with a key insurance goal midway through the third. Loktionov finished with a plus-4 rating and a game-high six shots on goal.  Loktionov became the 18th player in Monarchs history to score a hat trick and the first to score the triple tallies in his professional debut with the team.  The rookie center also became the 25th player in team history to tally four points (three goals, one assist) in one game.

In recognition of his achievement, Loktionov will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Monarchs home game.

A native of Voskresensk, Russia, Loktionov (born May 30, 1990) is the second-youngest player in the AHL according to the opening-night rosters submitted to the league last week. The fifth-round draft choice by the Los Angeles Kings in 2008 played junior hockey last season for the OHL's Windsor Spitfires, recording 24 goals and 42 assists for 66 points in 51 games. He added a league-best 33 points in 20 OHL postseason matches and seven points in six tournament contests as the Spits won the Memorial Cup.
