Cheryl Abbott

Cheryl Abbott has been a member of the organization since November of 2003 when she came on board as the Community Relations Director. As a senior associate of the club, she oversees the community relations, public relations and merchandising departments as well as office administration, event management and game night arena services.

She plays an integral part in the incorporation of the Monarchs into the city of Manchester as well as the state of New Hampshire. She oversees the Monarchs public presence, community involvement and public relations through the Monarchs Care Foundation, the Goals for Success Program and the Monarchs D.A.R.E. Graduation Program. She is responsible for orchestrating special fundraising events and oversees all fundraising activities and the disbursement of funds to local community organizations. She also coordinates all mascot and player appearances, and handles requests for promotional items and donations.

Since joining the front office staff, Abbott has cultivated close relationships with organizations like Toys for Tots, the New Hampshire Food Bank, Child Health Services, the United Way, Special Olympics of New Hampshire. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Manchester Boys & Girls Club. In addition, she has been essential in the procurement of several awards for the Monarchs Care Foundation, including the 2006 Daniel Webster Council (Boy Scouts) Distinguished Corporate Citizen Award, the 2006 Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce In Education Award and the 2004 PRISM Award Honorable Mention in Community Relations.

Abbott has also earned many awards herself, most recently being named New Hampshire Business Reviews "2008 Outstanding Women in Business" for her extraordinary accomplishments, including her commitment, leadership and vision in New Hampshire's business community. In 2006, she earned the coveted “40 Under 40” award, which is given to 40 men and women under the age of 40 who are recognized as emerging leaders with a record of professional and volunteer accomplishments in New Hampshire. Her volunteer work with groups like the Citizen of the Year Committee of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Celebrate NH Culture Campaign/Smithsonian Folk Life Festival and D.A.R.E. New Hampshire has helped to distinguish her both personally and professionally.

In February 2005, Abbott was one of the key organizers of the American Hockey League’s All-Star Classic, an international event that drew thousands of people to Manchester.

Prior to her work with the Monarchs, Abbott worked for Heritage United Way and spent ten years in the community relations department of Fleet Bank, where she managed multi-million dollar campaigns and charitable contributions. She coordinated promotional activities and supervised statewide employee volunteer programs while also working with high-profile athletes such as Mo Vaughn formerly of the Boston Red Sox, Cam Neely formerly of the Boston Bruins and Antoine Walker formerly of the Boston Celtics.

Cheryl is a graduate of Hesser College in Manchester, and resides with her husband Michael and two children, Cameron and Courtney, in Weare, New Hampshire.
