What a weekend it was for everyone in Monarchs Country! The Manchester Monarchs are off to a purrfect start this year as they opened up the season on the road with wins over the Providence Bruins and Albany Devils.
It was two close road games last week but the Monarchs prevailed and the team will be coming home to the Jungle this weekend with games against the Bruins on Friday night and Portland Pirates on Saturday night.
The Jungle will most certainly be rocking this weekend for the Monarchs Home Opening Weekend! Be sure to buy your Max and Cheese raffle tickets while you are at the game. The winners will get to hangout out with the Monarchs and myself and help package 15,000 meals of macaroni and cheese! The three lucky winners will be announced during the third period of the Monarchs game against the Pirates on Saturday, October 20.
The game against the Pirates is also the first official match-up of the VIP Cup and I know the Monarchs want to get off to a quick start in that division rivalry series! Expect things to heat up on the ice, as the Monarchs defeated the Pirates twice in the exhibition games just over a week ago! The loud Jungle crowd could be the difference in a tightly matched game so follow my lead on Saturday night and let’s root for the greatest team! (a.k.a. the Monarchs!)
I hope the Monarchs score a ton of goals this weekend but I want one person in particular to score a bunch. That person is right wing Stefan Legein who I got to ask a few questions the other day. As promised, here is what I have started calling “A Hat Trick of Questions” with no. 16 of the Monarchs.
Question: How would you describe me to visiting teams?
Legein’s answer: “You are a ferocious fan but also really funny and you have a cute little head.”
Question: Where is your favorite place to score on the opposing goaltender?
Legein’s answer: “Obviously you want to go high but I like putting it five-hole. It makes the goalie feel a little silly when you put it through his legs.”
Question: Does it scare you when I bang on the glass during the game?
Legein’s answer: “It doesn’t scare me. It scares me when I get banged into the glass but not when you do it.”
There you have it, three quick questions with Legein who is one of the many Monarchs I will be cheering for at the Monarchs Home Opening Weekend this Friday and Saturday.
Anyone who is looking to catch up with me this week outside of the Monarchs home games this weekend can find me at the Souhegan Valley Business Expo on Wednesday afternoon. There will be food, fun, and entertainment for the whole family provided by a bunch of local business and restaurants. There is something for everyone! You can find exhibits, giveaways and information while sampling the best cuisine around! It is at the Hampshire Dome in Milford!
This weekend should be a thrilling one here in the Jungle as the Monarchs look to extend their winning streak! I look forward to seeing all you fans at the games and to seeing the Verizon Wireless Arena alive again for another winning season!
